It was founded by Renato Menconi and Beatrice Catalani between 1948 and 1950 as "Club Repubblicano".
In the course of time to the room that was used as room for the party meetings, a "Cantina" was added.
In 1962 the son Vladimiro Menconi transformed it in "Trattoria Girraosto La Repubblica", where the high personages of the Italian Republican party came to have dinner.
In 1970 a partnership with Giovanni began, until 1990.
In 1998 Giovanni, together with Monica, continued the old tradition left by Vladimiro giving life to the today's "La Repubblica da Giovanni Restaurant".
